LIFT UP THINE EYES

A Storied Past, A Vital and Bright Future

Founded in 1808, Grace Church has been a spiritual home for generations of New Yorkers. Originally located in Lower Manhattan on Broadway at Rector Street, Grace outgrew its relatively humble home after several decades. Since 1846, we have occupied our beautiful campus at Broadway’s distinctive bend in Greenwich Village. From here, we maintain robust ministries of music, outreach, and Christian education, strengthening our congregation and the wider community. Our landmark building is open everyday during the afternoons for all people looking for quiet prayer and restful respite.

After completing significant restoration to the interior of Grace Church over the past decade, the time has come to mount our next project. We are restoring the high ceilings in the nave, crossing, and north transept, consolidating decaying plaster and restoring all ornamental fixtures. For the first time in 170 years, the entire expanse of the ceiling will be restored to its original beauty for the benefit and safety of all worship, rest, and pray in Grace Church.

Preserving Grace Church For Future Generations

Our ceiling restoration work was funded by the Lift Up Thine Eyes capital campaign. As of today, over 150 families have pledged $3,090,765; this total is 19% above our primary goal of $2.6 million. This stunning result means that a significant portion of what we raised will go back into our endowment, restoring part of what we borrowed from ourselves to complete earlier phases of work.

For more information about the restoration, we encourage you to watch the campaign’s video. If you would like to make a pledge to the Lift Up Thine Eyes campaign, please click here.
