Psalm 89
“I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever;
with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known
through all generations.”
This verse from Psalm 89 made me immediately think of how important Grace’s Choir is to me and how singing in the Choir reinforces my faith. I have been a chorister since I was eight. Now as an 8th grader, I realize how fortunate I am to have this unique experience. Of course my favorite music to sing is Christmas carols, and Grace’s 8:00pm Christmas Eve Lesson and Carols is my personal highlight of the choir year. My favorite moment of the service is when we sing “Silent Night.” It is pure magic as the church lights are extinguished and everyone in our beautiful church sings together holding a glowing candle. Does everyone cry at this moment or just me? The Christmas story, our savior being born in the most humble of circumstances, is so moving, and I feel privileged as a chorister to be part of its retelling in Grace Church. Amplifying the miracle of Christmas through song brings me such joy. For sure this year’s 8:00pm Christmas Eve service will be different, but I will be there (of course masked and socially distanced) singing of the Lord’s great love which is forever, even in a pandemic.
