William White and the Making of the American Episcopal Church
Join us in the reception room at 10 am for the first of a two-part Sunday Forum on William White (1748–1836), the first Bishop of Pennsylvania and the first Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, who stands at the center of the church’s transformation from a colonial extension of the Church of England into a distinctly American body. Led by parishioner and NYU professor Nicholas Birns, we will explore the former presiding bishop’s life, ministry, and enduring legacy in the year that we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States.
