Grace Church in New York
Children, Youth and Family
Nursery Care is provided for infants up to age 4. Childcare is available from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and is located on the bottom floor of the Parish House. During the 11 a.m. service, a worship livestream is available to view from the nursery.
During both the 9am and 11am services, children start church with their parents in the pews, then head to the Chantry during the sermon and prayers for singing, praying, and reading from our children’s bible. Children return for for the rest of the service in the church.
Sunday School classes for ages 4-12 meet between services in the classrooms of Tuttle Hall from 10:15am-10:45am. Lessons are thematic and explore our faith through storytelling, crafts, and activities. Parents may register their children at any time during the year at the link above.
Throughout the year, we offer fun and meaningful activities for the entire family. These include: the Halloween Carnival, Advent Wreath Making, Gingerbread House Building, the Christmas Pageant, and the Easter Eve Walk.
Acolytes are an integral part of the worship experience. By carrying a cross or a torch, and by helping the clergy during services, acolytes ensure that our worship reverently emphasizes the great symbols of the Christian faith and help the congregation focus on God.
Youth Group & Confirmation
There are many opportunities for teens to gather at Grace, including our monthly Fun Fridays for high schoolers. Youth in 7th grade and older are invited to make a mature confirmation of their baptismal promises at the Bishop’s spring visit. Class meets monthly in the Fall and weekly from January through confirmation. This year, confirmands will join a Civil Rights Pilgrimage to Alabama in June 2020. Contact The Rev. Thomas Szczerba to register your child for this year’s program.
