Wagner Society of New York presents an organ recital of transcriptions from Richard Wagner. Excerpts performed by Dr. Patrick Allen. This program is free and open to the public*. The event can also be viewed live.
Program: Prelude from Tannhäuser, Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde, Prelude from Der fliegende Holländer, and Finale (Walhall Scene) from Das Rheingold.
These excerpts were transcribed by Edwin H. Lemare (1865-1934), one of the greatest organists of his era. They are notable for their emotion, dynamics, and color.
